These bolt kits are designed to bolt together 1 or 1.5 inch ASA (also called ANSI) flanges which contain 4 each 5/8 inch bolt holes. These kits include 9/16-12 threaded bolts, nuts, and washers needed to bolt together these flanges. These kits work with both grooved or non-grooved flanges, grooved flanges require an additional elastomer rubber O-Ring (see middle illustration above). The 1 inch ASA flange has 4.25 inch outer diameter (OD), with 3.125 inch bolt-center-diameter (BCD), and 9/16 inch bolt holes. The 1.5 inch ASA flange has a 5 inch outer diameter (OD), with 3.88 inch bolt-center-diameter (BCD), and 5/8 inch bolt holes.

ASA ANSI flanges come in smooth or grooved flanges, bored or non bored, rotatable or non rotatable, and adapters to other flange types. With tubing sizes ranging from 1 in. to 12 in. diameter and outer diameters from 4.25 in. to 16 in. The Sizes of ASA are from 1 in. to 10 in. The two flanges that will mate can be two alike smooth flange faces or two unlike, one smooth face and one groove face. The flanges are mated together with nuts, bolts and washers. ASA ANSI flanges were originally used for steam pipes but have now been adapted to vacuum. Diffusion pumps, roots blowers, cryopumps and large rotary piston pumps are some examples of the ASA flange uses.
